CLINICAL SOMATICS SESSIONS
WHAT IS CLINICAL SOMATICS
Hanna Somatics is a very effective form of neuromuscular re-education that goes directly to the root cause of most chronic muscular pain and restriction in mobility: the brain and the way in which it senses and organizes the muscles and movement. By learning to regain both awareness, sensation, and motor control of muscles - an educational process that can only be achieved through movement - the brain can remember how to relax and move the muscles properly. This process of sensory motor training creates improved muscle function and enhanced sensory awareness.
WHAT IS A PRIVATE CLINICAL SESSION?
Private Clinical Somatics sessions offer a 1-2-1 hands-on way to begin to restore muscle function, improve freedom of movement, and eliminate patterns of habituated muscular pain. In Private Clinical Somatic sessions David will work with you to stimulate awareness and assist you in regaining control of areas of your muscles that may have been asleep, stuck in contraction and leading to aches, pains, suffering, imbalances in posture and limitations in movement.
WHAT HAPPENS IN A PRIVATE CLINICAL SESSION?
Your posture and movement are assessed before each lesson so that the practitioner can determine which clinical lesson (or protocol) to teach you. Each clinical lesson focuses on one specific stress reflex pattern that is present in your posture and movement. We can only help you release one pattern at a time, so further sessions may be advised.
The movement lesson begins after the assessment. With you in a lying position, either on your front, back or side, you will be guided, hands-on, through gentle, easy movements and assisted pandiculations that are designed to restore sensation and control of muscles at the brain level and reverse your specific patterns of chronic muscular tension. With hands-on help and measured resistance from the practitioner, you will begin to retrain your brain to release stuck, painful muscles and reset their length and function. This process improves the brain's awareness, and facilitates your ability to monitor, correct, and adjust your posture, movement, and responses to stress - on your own! Each session focuses on your particular needs, history of muscular pain, and movement habits.
At the conclusion of each session you will learn specific Somatic Movements to practice at home. A daily 5-10 minute Somatics routine further integrates and enhances the improvement you achieve in each private session. These self-care movements are the linchpin to long-term pain relief and efficient movement.

David Fleming is a Certified Clinical Somatic Educator (CCSE) from the UK who currently lives in Wales. As well as being a CCSE he is also a Gentle Somatic Yoga Teacher Trainer and an Aerial Yoga Teacher Trainer. Alongside providing Clinical Somatic sessions he also regularly leads workshops and trainings nationally in the UK as well as internationally in Europe and India.
